SOFA, Society for Financial Awareness, presents their Social Security & Retirement Planning Basics session. Come to learn about social security filing age, taxation of social security benefits, and foundational information about retirement.
In this presentation, SOFA will cover:
- Factors to consider when determining what age to file for Social Security
- Ways to avoid higher taxation of your Social Security benefits
- Retirement threats and how to avoid them
- Learn thought processes relating to income creation in retirement
- Learn about wealth eroding factors and how to avoid them

Residency Registration Limit
Registration is open to Altoona and rural Polk County residents 4 weeks before the event. Registration will be open to the general public 3 weeks before the event. Registration for non-residents that is marked "yes" for residency will be canceled and moved to the pending waitlist if space is available. You may receive two emails, one for the cancelation and one for the pending waitlist. Your registration will automatically move to confirmed on the correct date if seats are available.
